Dr. Wazir Ishmael serves as Executive Director of Global Business Development for CTG Power Systems International, Inc. (CTG-PSI) and its family of global energy services’ companies. As a senior level business development leader, he is responsible for analyzing and developing plans to drive the company’s growth and nurture new businesses in emerging markets.
In this capacity, he and the senior vice-president of business development jointly coordinate the company’s global corporate business development function, with responsibility for identifying acquisition targets, equity investment opportunities, negotiating strategic alliances and joint ventures. His responsibilities include opening new business opportunities in the private and government sector and providing presentations to established and prospective CTG-PSI customers for all EPCM services and power generation products. Dr. Wazir determines strategic goals and business plans. He works closely with the CEO and contracts team on proposal development and submits price recommendations. His contributions to the CTG-PSI Team minimizes bureaucracy and redundant activities to achieve the company’s revenue targets and professional goals.
Dr. Ishmael brings over thirty years of diverse leadership experience in administration, planning, and international business with prestigious organizations such as City of Miramar; City of Hollywood; Clark County, Washington; Broward County Planning Council; Wigan Council, Lancashire, United Kingdom and PlanLogical Corporation. It was with his leadership that the City of Miramar Florida was transformed from a sleepy suburban bedroom community of a little over 50,000 residents into a city which has received national and international distinctions such as one of Money Magazine’s “Top 100 Cities to Live”, Cities Livability Award in the New Downtowns with Mixed-Use Urban Fabric category, and Associated Builders and Contractors – Excellence in Construction Merit Award for the new Miramar City Hall facility.
During his 16-year tenure, Dr. Ishmael held several positions of increasing responsibility with the City of Miramar, the most recent being Deputy City Manager. It was in this role that he spearheaded the acquisition and development of the Miramar Town Center, a $255 million, 54-acre traditional neighborhood development at the heart of the City. The project included a dynamic mix of residential, retail, recreational, educational, cultural, and civic uses and activities. Dr. Ishmael played an integral role in the negotiations and structuring of the private-public partnerships required to bring about a project of such magnitude and complexity to fruition.
As the President and CEO of PlanLogical Corporation, a multi-disciplinary international planning and consultancy firm that specializes in developing and implementing solutions for clients, Dr. Ishmael has conducted business throughout the globe. Simply put, Dr. Ishmael has developed a unique expertise keenly focused on organizing, driving and linking local and international trade with import and export and business commerce in a variety of high level international commercial sectors involving capital finance, energy, urban economic development and engineering services.
Dr. Ishmael holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Development Studies (focusing on Economics and Natural Resources) from the University of East Anglia in Norwich, England, a Master’s Degree in Urban Regional Planning from the University of Miami and a Doctorate in Urban Studies from Portland State University.
