Mr. Azim Kassam recently joined CTG Power Systems International, Inc. (CTG-PSI) and serves as CTG-PSI’s Director of Business Development for the East Africa region. Mr. Kassam reports directly to Mr. Abdullah Hashwani, CTG-PSI’s Senior Vice-president for Global Business Development. Mr. Kassam is responsible for cultivating and forging new business relationships in the East Africa territories generating new international business opportunities in government and the private sector, while overseeing the heavy power generation equipment and engineering, procurement and construction project sales process for several developing East African nations. Mr. Kassam also assists the CTG-PSI corporate office in identifying and establishing sales goals and implements processes and procedures to achieve them.
Mr. Kassam is very analytical, decisive and client-focused. He excels in time, operations and financial management. Mr. Kassam obtained certification from Certified General Accountants of Canada (CGA). His career has provided him the opportunity to interact and work with high caliber professionals, entrepreneurs, consultants, executive management and high level government officials in a wide range of transactions and joint ventures. He is also fluent in five languages including English, Kiswahili, French, Gujarati and Hindi.
Mr. Kassam offers CTG-PSI a very well-rounded and unique background in varied business engagements and enterprises. He also was a partner in a professional firm of Chartered Accountants in Canada. Mr. Kassam has served in a consultancy capacity for several new ventures as well as expansions of existing facilities specializing in the Agro-Industry Sector. He has owned, operated and managed a wide range of projects and businesses. His own business ventures include Coffee Processing & Exports, Fish Processing, Exports to Regional and International Markets, designing and setup of retail fashion outlets, trading activities including Imports/Exports and Tenders.
Mr. Kassam is very active in many social and community voluntary services. He served in an honorary capacity on a voluntary basis in various institutions of His Highness The Aga Khan. He was In-Charge of the Entertainment Committee from1991 to 2002. Also in 2002 he served as Secretary of National Conciliation and Arbitration. He was a member of the Social Welfare Board in 2003. In 2007 he served as a member for Communications-In-Charge of Media for the Golden Jubilee Celebrations. He was also a volunteer for Aga Khan Development Network, assisting in various programs and projects, served as Convener /Lead Logistics for AKDN/Aga Khan University and the Non-Communicable Diseases Summit in 2009.
Mr. Kassam resides in Canada with his wife and daughter and manages the East African Global Office located in Kampala, Uganda. Mr. Kassam is an avid tennis player in his spare time.
